Calgary 2007
Monsieur Marcoux,
Line Schmidt
"Thank you for your work! " (Eric)
_________________________________________________________________________________The registration session was very well organized and smoothly run. It was nice to meet all the goalies and trainers that were ther to help.
Excellent ratios instructors/goalies. Fun drills as well as many new challenging ones introduced.
Video review with coaches was very helpful. It encourages us to continue video throughout the year.
We appreciated the variety of life skills information (nutrition, policeman, yoga, etc.,) that were addressed.
From a parent’s perspective, it was very inspiring to be able to remind our children about “never giving up” (Curtis McElhinney’s talk).
Mike Norris’ warm-ups, work-outs and agility sessions were good.
Meals were very delicious and nutritious. Timing was excellent! Great breakfasts were available to the 7:00 AM group as well.
Arena facilities were good.
David … you were amazing during the certificate activity!
The greatest feeling is seeing your child smiling and laughing with their peers and being mentored by an amazing smiling group of talented goalies while playing the sport they absolutely love.

David Marcoux, director of D.M.S.G. and Andrew Harback, participant of the DMSG 2006 Goalie Camp in Calgary, Alberta
"... My son, Andrew, has been a goaltender for three years. During that time, he has attended eight different goaltending camps and participated in numerous one-on-one training sessions. By far, DMSG was the best investment we ever made. Very impressive. We liked what we saw and Andrew thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. In a quiet, unassuming manner, David Marcoux has developed and delivers an exceptional camp with proven results. Even before opening night I was impressed. When I had a question after registration prior to camp, my email received a prompt and personal reply. We were provided with preliminary conditioning exercises developed by Calgary Flames strength and conditioning coach, Rick Hesketh. These were excellent preparation for camp.
On opening night, check-in was organized and efficient. Each student received a camp t-shirt and was fitted for a proper-sized goalie-cut jersey. The jersey was then personalized with their name in time for the student to take it home after the opening session. After check-in, both parents and students were invited to hear keynote speaker Kelly Hrudey, a respected commentator and former goaltender, who delivered a personable, informative and encouraging talk.
The entire camp was professionally run: well organized and carefully structured.
Administration and photography were handled efficiently by André Marcoux. Sessions were led by well-qualified, experienced instructors under the watchful supervision of David Marcoux. Mr. Marcoux spoke personally to students throughout the week and worked individually with the advanced and professional groups. Opportunity was given for dialogue regarding what was taught and questions were encouraged. Andrew enjoyed rubbing shoulders with NHL goaltending prospects, draft picks and trainers. There was a good balance between on-ice, dryland and mental training sessions. On ice videos were reviewed at the end of each day for additional coaching and training.
I found the cost of the camp to be competitive, thanks in part to the involvement of reputable sponsors. The students were given well-balanced hot meals at lunch and other nutritious snacks were provided throughout the day. There was no push to sell product. At the end of camp, parents were able to attend a closing session where David Marcoux personally presented certificates to all the participants and gave awards to individual winners of the shoot-out competition. Mr. Marcoux made sure all those that wanted photographs were able to take snapshots during the presentations and took time afterwards to speak to anyone who had questions or comments.
In tryouts this fall, Andrew performed very well and was drafted to the NEAA Bantam AAA Blazers. After two weeks of practices and exhibition games, he made the final cut to be one of two goalies on the team. Thanks are due to the excellent training he received from David Marcoux and his colleagues at David Marcoux School of Goaltending.
Andrew can't wait for next year's camp. We are deeply grateful for the training he received and the resulting improvement in his personal performance. If anyone is considering a goaltending school for their child, DMSG is the one we would whole-heartedly recommend."

_________________________________________________________________________________Dear Dave:
"The reason for my email is to say thank-you. I went to your goalie school this summer. I am a 13 year old goalie and I made the Bantam AAA Buffalo Rangers. I believe one of the reasons for my success during try-outs was the instruction I received at your school and the improvement it made to my game.
I just wanted to say thanks."

_________________________________________________________________________________Hello David
"We are back home in B.C. and Anton is still ranting and raving about everything he learned at your camp in Calgary and the entire experience. Every second sentence starts with : “but David Marcoux said” - then he quotes something that you said about “if something is worth doing it is worth doing well” or “don’t be concerned about things you have no control over”, and of course, “show that glove”! It is clear that you made an enormous impression on him and produced more than what you promised at the camp.
He was ecstatic today when he saw your website has been updated with pictures!! You can not wipe the smile off his face! After the first day Anton already asked my husband if he can come again next year because he regards you and your staff as The Best of the Best! Can you imagine that… converting a hardcore Vancouver Canuck to a Calgary Flame?? In only one day…. !! He enjoyed being with the other goalies in his group and still tells us about the “stuff’ Kelly Hrudey and the other WHL goalies shared with them. The only things Anton regrets are the fact that he couldn’t show off his pre-game puck drills – he can juggle three pucks at the same time – and that the camp doesn’t last longer!!
The attached picture is on Anton’s “Wall of Fame” along with the certificate you presented at the end of the camp. We can not thank you enough for the privilege Anton enjoyed to participate in your camp. This is the best run camp Anton ever attended and he cherished every moment! Summer camp used to be a very stressful time for all of us but because he gained a lot of confidence at your camp, this year will be a breeze."

"... Very well done. Session with Kelly Hrudey was especially good. I tought the lunch menu looked very good. The ice sessions were the only things I was able to watch. They were very well run. I have been involved in the game of hockey, playing, coaching, watching + parenting for about 40 years. This was one of the best run events I have been involved in. Hats off to you David and your staff, helpers, shooters, etc. Job well done!"

Nutrition +, Injury prevention and Mental training talks were good information at a young age. Viva Touch assessment was a very good idea and valuable information. "... On-ice + filming + video review with coaches were fun and very informative. Mike Norris' warm-ups + work-outs + agility sessions were fun. I learned lots of new moves. Breakfasts and lunches were wonderful. Some confusion as to when they were to eat. May be it needs to be specified where parents can watch given the fact that some are in the arena all day! Some unstructured time for the (Pee-Wee group) boys while they were waiting for the video review with coaches which led to some acting out. Overall very impressed with what Haiden was taught and by the level of professionalism exhibited by instructors. Haiden loved it!
Carmen Block, parent of Haiden (Pee-Wee goalie)

Sherbrooke 2006"...

"...I want to thank you again for the wonderful teachings and atmosphere you have provided through your goalie school (Calgary). My son Koltyn had an extremely wonderful time each and every day and will definitely be in attendance next year again. I thought I let you know that he made an incredible move from being on an Atom 6 last year to this year Atom 2!
We had the opportunity to attend a couple of the Flames games already this year (home opener and Flames against Oilers) and Koltyn does not remove his sights from Mikka Kiprusoff. He, in fact, points out positionning and goalie moves, the techniques you have shown him. He is so proud to know that he is being taught from the best to be like the best. Thanks again David for the time you take during your "down" time to teach these kids the sport you love so much."
